4 Days to Go, Update Spotlight on Switch Options

We’re down to crunch time, 4 day to go and a little under $5000 left to raise. Please introduce this campaign to everyone you know with a GoPro Hero camera.

Today’s update focuses on the different switches available for the GoHawk. All of the switches give you the ability to activate your GoPro’s shutter, this will work to take still photos or start/stop video capture.

Shooting just what you want extends battery life, saves storage space and reduces the time required to edit video or rummage through still images.

The handle bar switch is ideal for anything with handle bars: motorcycles, bicycles, quads, snow mobiles or even the 3 wheeled machines polaris makes. Capture the favorite sections of your ride, get video of the parts that no one will believe and benefit from some increased safety by being able to photograph and report hazards or dangerous drivers.

The bite and tongue switches are ideal for body mounted cameras, these are ideal for activities such as skydiving. The learning curve for these switches is short, in no time you’ll be comfortable using them and wonder how you got by without one.

The major difference between bite and tongue switches is in how you use the device

For the bite switch, biting anywhere on the red section ("bite zone") actuates the switch and triggers the camera. There are two tactile ribs so the user can instantly feel the bite zone with their teeth and lips. The required bite force is about what it would take to bite through a small carrot, or about how hard the average person can comfortably bite on their own finger without pain. The actual depression of the switch mechanism is only about 1/8", so very little jaw movement is needed. As a result, helmet motion is extremely small.

On the tongue switch, the tongue movement required is most similar to that of pressing bubble gum against the back surface of the front teeth before blowing a bubble. The user will feel a "click" each time the switch is depressed, indicating that a photo has been taken. The entire switch assembly is waterproof, and since it is situated entirely within the mouth, no jaw or teeth movement is required to retain or actuate the switch while taking photographs. This allows the Tongue Switch to be used with tight fitting rear-entry helmets and ratcheting chin-cups. This feature makes it the favorite of professional freefall photographers who insist on a perfectly stable camera platform.

A week into the GoHawk launch and we're already 66% funded, thanks to the support of our AMAZING BACKERS!!!

But this ride isn't over just yet - we still need to fund the last third of the campaign!

So if you haven't already, tell your friends! Be sure to tell them HOW they can use the GoHawk in their own lives!

• Bike or motorcycle touring? Take pictures of the pretty bits without having to stop or dig out a camera.
• Skydiving camera flyer? With double GoPro's and GoHawk's for stills AND video, you'll have the smallest, lightest camera setup out there, and you'll still be able to control every shot you take!
• Drone photography? Since you can use any kind of switching device to trigger the GoHawk, you can use it to take radio-controlled shots, no matter the distance!
• Into wildlife photography? Extend our shutter switch with an extension cable so you can trigger your GoPro from FAR beyond the reach of the wifi remote.
• Motorsports? Mount your camera outside your car but control it from inside the cockpit!
• Flying planes? Extend our shutter switch beyond the wifi remote's range to capture pictures and video from your wingtip or tail.
